About the design
DAZZ Ring — Oval
One marquise leans into the center stone from each side, across the width of the band — the house setting, the DAZZ signature.
The center diamond, between two marquises across the band, 0.4 ct together — lab-grown or natural, your choice — comes with an international gemological certificate: IGI for a lab-grown diamond, GIA for a natural one. The ring is made to order, in 14K gold — white, yellow or rose.
The cut in this design
The Oval in the DAZZ Ring
The oval is the classic elongated cut, and the house's preference. A long, soft line with no corners, which lengthens the finger. A carat of oval covers more of the hand than a carat of round, because the weight is spread along its length. The right ratio is 1.40 to 1.58. Clearly elongated, never narrow. An oval tends to carry a darker zone at its center, the bow-tie. Here, as little of it as possible.
In the DAZZ Ring two marquises lean toward the oval, one on each side, across the band. The marquises continue the soft, elongated line of the oval, and the ring reads as one line of three stones. The setting here differs from the rest of the collection. Instead of claws, four flat, triangular prongs fold over the stone like tabs, on a tapered head. The marquises are V-set, held at their two points only, with their sides open.
- Does an oval really look larger?
- Yes. A carat of oval covers more of the hand than a carat of round.
- What length-to-width ratio is right for an oval?
- 1.40 to 1.58. Shorter, and the oval drifts toward a circle. Longer, and it turns narrow and darkens at the center. You see the stone before it is made.
- Why marquises beside an oval?
- Because the marquise leans toward another stone without competing with it. Its point aims at the oval, and its line continues the line of the center stone across the finger. It is the house's setting.
