About the design
Half Eternity Ring — Oval
An unbroken line of diamonds wraps the visible half of the ring while the underside stays smooth and comfortable — a ring for every day, and for all the years.
The row of diamonds along half the ring, in the weight you select, comes with an international jewelry certificate — lab-grown or natural, your choice. The ring is made to order, in 14K gold — white, yellow or rose.
The cut in this design
The Oval in the Half Eternity Ring
The oval is the classic elongated cut, and the house's preference. A long, soft line with no corners, which lengthens the finger. A carat of oval covers more of the hand than a carat of round, because the weight is spread along its length. The right ratio is 1.40 to 1.58. Clearly elongated, never narrow. An oval tends to carry a darker zone at its center, the bow-tie. Here, as little of it as possible.
Here the oval is the cut of every stone in the line. The oval stones sit side by side along the visible half of the ring, and the inside stays smooth and comfortable. Elongated stones in a line make a continuous band that looks wider than its weight. Shared claw prongs, each holding two neighboring stones.
- Does an oval really look larger?
- Yes. A carat of oval covers more of the hand than a carat of round.
- What length-to-width ratio is right for an oval?
- 1.40 to 1.58. Shorter, and the oval drifts toward a circle. Longer, and it turns narrow and darkens at the center. You see the stone before it is made.
- Does an oval half eternity sit well next to an engagement ring?
- Yes. That is exactly its place. The smooth inside sits flush against the engagement ring, and the oval stones continue its line.
